JUNE DUEL WINNERS

[link] VS [link]
May 28 - Jun 1 (EXTENDED from May 29) #
"1 Page Duel"
Winner: ~zekantropi This duel was extremely hard to judge. Both of the artists took a different meaning to the phrase one page duel, and went in two completely different directions. I liked the overall mood in Macollado's work, as well as thier general style. However, it was kind of a turn off to have his competitor say that he was an idiot, and kind of fumbled the joke. Zekantropi went for a shorter approach, but with a wonderful style and it was easy to recognize what was going on. But both duelers here did great work overall. Happy Dueling.

May 30 - Jun 2 !
"2-on-1 Splash Duel"
WINNER:=ketsuo: Though both entries expressed similar ideas and were beautifully drawn and wholly equal in quality, =ketsuo is the decided winner for a more complete entry. Both were great see, keep it up guys.

May 29 - Jun 3 ~
"Splash Page Duel"
WINNER: ~ladyleonheart: Nice images from both competitors making this one a tough match to call. Deathdog's color scheme has a ghostly quality to it that compliments her character well, and the expressions used in the image add to the dire situation her opponent is caught in. Ladyleonheart's image makes me laugh a bit. Her gal's got this cool look about her, not only did she K.O. her opponent, but had time to smile at the camera as she did it. Getting kicked by those heels must hurt as well. Ouch. Ladyleonheart will wins out this time. The slickness of her image and finality of it draws me in.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 4 ~
"1 Hour Duel"
WINNER: =Aleksandros: One hour isn't much time to work with for brainstorming and making one's idea come forth. Devilbless pulled forth a standard counter-blow inaction here, while Aleksandros went for a more humorous angle sending the opponent into a tree. Both are sketchy which I'd come to expect for such a short time period. Aleksandros wins this round for having a more finished environment and a more creative final blow. Nice job from both of you, and good luck in the future.

May 16 - Jun 4 (EXTENDED from May 30) &
"Splash Page Duel so Adorable that will make you barf rainbows and kittens."
Winner: *Waddle-Penguin Cuteness is kinda subjective so this was a tough one to judge. Napalm's was definitely very cute and I liked his expressions. Although Waddle's entry was incomplete I really liked the character relationship. Nyonu gives off a big brother vibe that I liked.

Winner: ~Inuryan Won by default.

[link] VS [link]
May 15 - Jun 5 (EXTENDED from May 29) @
Winner: ~ladyleonheart won this duel with a clearer storyline, and a nice, finished product. Mindheart, I found it distracting that none of your words were in speech bubbles, and it was hard to tell who was talking at points. Also, you need more background in your work to show me where the characters are standing, and who is who. Nice work, and happy dueling.

[link] VS [link]
May 14 - Jun 6 (EXTENDED from Jun 4) ^
"Black and White Comic"
Winner: ~kingLoL Both artists produced very nice comics, plenty of back and forth as well as good characterisation. However Lovesickvash's comic is noncompliant with the SDL "no magic" rule. Lovesickvash is disqualified.

May 22 - Jun 6 #
"Accidental Duel"
Winner: None. Double forfeit.

[link] vs [link]
Jun 4 - 6 @
"Splash Page Duel"
Winner: ~NZcolombiano While the ink work I felt was sloppy, I think NZ's angle and colouring skills took this one home. Balrogon had a nice premise and it showed a fight, but the two were standing at a dead on angle of the camera, and the mood of who was winning was less decisive. Great work to both of you, and happy dueling in the future.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 7 !
"24hrs 1 Page 1 Strike Death Match"
Winner: =ayattousai - Given the stipulations, I felt that =Aleksandros's entry was too cluttered. As well, the fonts were somewhat difficult to read. =ayattousai's entry expressed the stipulations in a better way, though they would have done better to include at least some hint of background.

[link] VS [link]
May 27 - Jun 8 ^
"3 Page Duel"
Winner: =ketsuo Both artists submitted nice entries with plenty of back-and-forth and and good characterization. Ketsuo's entry was very stylish, I liked the strong use of black and the paneling as well as the composition. The way he told his story with very little text also won my vote.

"6 Page Duel"
Winner: *kumori13 Won by default.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 4 - 9 *
"4 page comic"
WINNER:~thethrash87: Both entries were comical and fun to read. Guzu's use of flash for turning pages was innovative and thrash's lines and style are smooth. But, their endings seemed a bit lacking in intensity. It just ended it with some humorous way of their opponent being sort of defeated. I'm choosing thethrash87 as winner.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 11 @
"One Hour Duel"
Winner: ~Eternityhero Eh took this duel with his face paced duel, more panels to explain what was happening, and a more clear winner. It showed who had the upper hand. In Devilbless' entry, it seems that Vince has the upperhand also, because he is spitting fire and his enemy is narrowly dodging it, which is confusing in that respect. In any case, good work. An hour is a very short ammount of time. Happy Dueling.

Winner: ~TETINE--King-of-Nada Won by default.

May 22 - Jun 12 (EXTENDED from Jun 5) ~
"2 Weapon, 4 Page Duel"
WINNER: ~IVANPS: Graphyt's method of telling the duel as a flashback was a interesting angle, and I give his credit for that. Ivanps entry sucked me in more with the stronger character interaction and set up. The typos were a bit of a drawback to the fight, but I could still make out what was being said. That's easy to overcome though. Good luck to both of you in the future.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 6 - 13 ~
"Snowball Fight"
Winner: ~wizardofkitty: Lovely art and story from Kitty this duel. The flag at the end was a nice bookend to the duel. The overuse of closeups in Dyingundead's entry made the story a bit hard to follow unfortunately. Hence, Kitty's victory. Good luck in the future!

[link] VS [link]
Jun 7 - 14 &
"Splash Duel"
Winner:*CaptRosko Both duels were absolutely gorgeous. I loved Regless' moody colours and lighting, as well as Captrosko's attention to detail. What pulled me towards Captrosko's piece would probably be the sense of story I get from it, the little cues that tell me what happened. For example clown girl's expression and lit sparkler tell me she just missed out of the fun. So while neither pieces have any flaws, it was the little things that pushed cap's piece ahead.

[link] VS [link]
May 24 - Jun 14 ^
"Free for All Duel"
Winner: ~monkey0toe0man Both duels had their strengths and weaknesses. Both were neat, easy to follow, had good back and forth and character interaction. Accless' pacing felt a little slow, there were a few too many of those single panel pages during the fight scene. Monkey's comic read a lot faster although it feels unfinished. Could have done with a little more focus on the fight but over all it was well composed.

"1 Hour Duel"
Winner: ~Devilbless Though Kasaron's line work was cleaner, Devilbless' duel was a bit more dynamic. I liked the use of foreshortening to make the page more dramatic.

[link] VS [link]
May 25 - Jun 15 *
"3 Page Duel"
Winner: ~Naiima Both have interesting styles and good ways of showing action. But, I was drawn more to Naiima's storytelling and the end of it made me chuckle. Good job you two.

[link] VS [link]
May 27 - Jun 15 (EXTENDED from Jun 8) !
"Item Possession Duel"
Winner: ~Kjbionicle It's too bad ~Treah couldn't get her pages up in time, otherwise this match could have been judged more evenly. As far as each entry goes, ~Kjbionicle clearly had the upperhand in this match with a very well-done comic with a sweet storyline. Hopefully ~Treah will be more prepared in her future duels. Work a bit more on your figures, and some background wouldn't hurt. Good job both of you.

[link] VS [link]
May 18 - Jun 16 !
Winner: *vampireking Though ~ImABunny's entry, though nicely finished, was confusing to read at the beginning. The action could have been more fluid, and your poses were a little stiff, so try working on that a bit more. As well, cut back on the toning - it seemed just a bit excessive, and if anything, your figures needed more shading. In general, a good try, just keep on working on your skills. Same goes for *vampireking - try putting some more space between your panels, they do look kind of cramped. While your figures are good, keep working on them to get a higher level of consistency. *vampireking wins this match for a clearer entry - sometimes simpler scenes work better.

Jun 17 - 18 $
"24 Hour, 1 Page, 3 Panel Duel"
Winner: :iconlastmemori: A restricted duel of this caliber is always difficult, and so I commend both parties for a duel which was very difficult to judge. While Vampireking's panelling I considered more dynamic, I could not walk past the quality of Lastmemori's artwork, especially the last panel. Vampireking also caused grevious bodily harm in his entry (i.e. the loss of two limbs) which Judges are meant to scrutinise more closely than normal duels. Therefore, I award this duel to Lastmemori.

"3 Page Duel"
Winner: ~zekantropi A more complete entry and better artwork takes this duel in Zekantropi's direction, although if iinevermoreii had managed to continue in colour and with dialogue the final result may have been different.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 3 - 21 &
Winner: ~macollado17 Although Wan's art and story telling style was clearer, the fight didn't seem as strong. Macollado's was sometimes difficult to follow but it was a good story with plenty of fight and made for an excellent audition to the bamboo hut.

"Fight Over Something Shiny"
WINNER ~StrawberryAddict Strawberry's entry had wonderful detail and action which made it enjoyable to read. Crowl's entry, although had good action, could have used more background detail. Overall great dueling you two, and congratulations to Strawberry

Winner: ~jdeberge Vampireking did some really great perspective, and I thought the way her head was pressed down on the axe to be particularly creative, but jdeberge had a much more dynamic entry with lots of interaction between the characters.

"48 hour duel, splash page vs comic"
Winner: ~mandalorianjedi This was an interesting duel to judge, because both sides brought something completely different for viewing. Accless brought a lovely splash page in which the master retaught the pupil why she knows best. Mandalorianjedi, however, brought a comic with such an interesting and thought out storyline that I was impressed. However, Mandalorian, your angles for your flat on talking scenes are boring. they are the same images over and over again, and they STILL lack background, so your characters are floating in nothing. I would recommend some different angles to keep your readers interested visually as well as in your story. Some speech bubbles might also help, so more than one character can speak and appear in one panel at a time.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 16 - 25 ^
"1 - 3 Page Duel"
Winner: *guzu Guzu's work was funny, creative, and inspired! I loved the art and the twist in the plotline. It really showed off all the characters. Kawaiisonicchao had good art, nice paneling, but the plotline felt a little one sided and didn't match up. Both were really fun reads.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 12 - 26 ~
Winner: *guzu: Guzu's animation out shown dragon-knight's comic with more action, better pacing, and suspense. The attention he paid to the setting of the duel helped to ground all the events into something easily understood and enjoyed.

Jun 25 - 26 @
"48 Hour Splash Page Duel"
Winner: ~IVANPS Ivan won this duel with a hearty and interesting colour scheme as well as a well defined finishing blow. Manalorianjedi, your image turned out a little to dark and it was hard to tell what has happening because of the darkness. Great work, and happy dueling.

[link] VS [link]
Jun 26 - 27 @
Winner: ~monkey0toe0man This match was hard for me to call. Both artists put thier best foot forward despite time restrictions. In the end, I felt that VampireKing had a better fight planned out, however, the ink work was a little more rushed in places and could use some more definition of whats in the foreground and whats in the background. Don't be afraid to use more black. IN the end I chose Monkey's entry because it had a good begining middle and end, coupled with smooth linework. Happy dueling.

Jun 9 - 29 &
Winner: =art-confederate Very close match here. Both had strong characterisation that I liked. I loved the detail Orange invested into backgrounds and setting, and it was a very well paced fight too. Art's initial pacing wasn't as strong. It started a bit slow but once the fight started the back and forth between fighters was hilarious and kept me reading.

[link] VS [link]
May 3 - Jun 29 $
Winner: ~gloomy-optimist This might be a bit of a controversial decision, but Gloomy-Optimist managed to entertain me more in a single page than Yuni-chan managed to in six. This isn't to say that Yuni-chan did horribly, but the use of MS Paint for text and the high-resolution messiness counted heavily against Yuni in the end. Optimist's funky style helped, of course.
